Gear Heads Must See

I know this is off the path of fly fishing but it enters to other interests of mine.  If you are a gear head you must check these goggles out.

Hayward Muskies

Steve and I just got back from the Muskie capital of the world.  We floated a couple of days with the guys at Musky Country Outfitters.  They were GREAT!!  It was a true Muskie experience.  We were throwing ten weights, not because of fish size, but fly size.  This was a truly great trip.  Here are a few of the pics,  more to come.

In town fishing

Steve and I went to Aurora Resavoir the other day.  What a great fishery.  We went to fish for smallies, but we ended up catching rainbows on crawfish patterns.  What a great time.  Sorry pics are not as good, we lost a couple of big fish ( due to us fumbling them).  It was really cold.

Steve and I are off to Hayward Wisconsin, the Muskie capital of the world.  We are going to chase some big muskie.   Til Next time.

Spinney

I have been trying to figure the Pike on a Fly thing.  I am getting better slowly.  I went to Spinney, and landed a few hammer handles (24-26 in).  I also landed a 20 in Rainbow on Greg Pearson's Boo Yah fly.  This is a great fly for the toothy critters, and now great streamer for trout.  Here are a few pics!

Abyss

Well I went to Abyss Lake in the Mt Evans Wilderness area.  Fishing was fantastic.  They were taking muddler minnows on top.  (Taking them for moths)  The scenery was marvelous, the hike got the old ticker pumping.  The weather was great until the hike out, then the rain, lightning, and hail arrived.  It made a tough hike out, an extremely tough hike.  I would do it again tomorrow!!!  Enjoy.

Spinney

Chad & I went to Spinney last week.  The Callibaetis were still going crazy.  The weather we had sucked for humans but good for fishing.  Of course the wind was blowing pretty good, so not much dry fly action, but they were taking the hares ears like mad.  We also were picking up fish on chironomids.  I got a 24inch pike to the boat but not in so no pic.  More coming soon.

The Winds

We just got back from our 63 mile roundtrip backpacking / fishing trip.  It was one of the best trips yet. The bugs were not a obnoxious as usual.  The fishing was off the charts.  Here are a few pics to wet your whistle!
