I've fished Cheeseman Canyon 3 times in the last few weeks from the Gill Trail upstream. Make sure to get up early and hit the water first to have success. The fish have been holding in deeper, darker water. The egg sometimes slows down those smart ass fish; fishing 3 midges deep with significant weight has been good. I have a love -- hate relationship with this place. Although a few years' experience fishing tougher winter conditions and learning more about winter fishing is starting to lean me towards love. But you definately have to beat the crowds. Winter fishing has been great this year and as a Flyfishaholic it is a special time to be on the river. Many rewarding trout come from winter fishing.

Great!!
Well I woke up this morning, getting ready to head into the outdoor store for another day of work, when I decided to check the snow report. Wow Loveland got 4 inches. That was a pleasant surprise. Change of plans, the outdoor store will be late opening up today thursday Feb 9th. Loveland was incredible. It was deep in spots. I guess this is when being a poor self employed jerky pays off.

Another Story From Jon Miller
The Blue River below the lower dam was a great fun on a recent warm winter day. The smaller fish were hammering the pat's rubber legs but I was looking for bigger fish so I used egg to midge again with success. This winter day was one of my best days ever on this stretch of river. Be sure to stud the hell out of your boots because this is tough river to hike all day without some good grip! 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. seem to have been when the fish were hitting.
Thanks Again Jon Miller

Winter Fishing
Sorry it has been so long for an update. Being a one man show, the holidays were hectic. I have a few stories from one of our followers Jon Miller. Thanks Jon!!!
I don't have much experience on the Williams Fork but 2 recent trips in the last few weeks have been a lot of fun. I'm picky about what spots I fish on the river so I probably pass up a lot of good water but I did end up hitting some good spots. I fished this river the same as I do most rivers in winter -- with an egg to midge. The deeper dark runs all seem to be holding fish and have been productive. My typical set up of WD-40s and Jujubes have been good enough so I haven't really needed to change it up on the William's Fork. I've enjoyed this water and look forward to getting back.

Halloween Float Trip
Well Chad & I floated the Colorado from Pumphouse to Statebridge. We turned tons of fish but only four ate! What a great day on the river. But when is it not a great day on the river!
